SAFETY & SECURITY

Your well-being secured

Our primary focus for the Big Bay area is a team-based approach to support and sustain our Security Master Plan involving the Trustees, Big Bay Estates, contracted Security Companies, Table View Neighbourhood Watch, local Law Enforcement and SAPS. The stellar efforts of this team have resulted in a significant drop in crime in the Big Bay area, making it one of the safest precincts, if not THE safest, in the entire area. Additional efforts to strengthen and grow the physical security network infrastructure will continue with improved fibre and connectivity to the area, supported by the implementation of 24/7 foot and vehicle patrols of the entire Big Bay precinct, including vehicle patrols within the Estates.

Latest:

Reportbacks from Star Alarms indicate that crime in the Big Bay area is so low that the neighbourhood watches and police hardly need to bring a vehicle out – however they continue to have a presence, and keep their ears to the ground for any criminal activity in the area.

SECURITY ACTIVITIES

As in previous years, a primary focus of your Trustees has been to ensure the success of the Security Master Plan by building an integrated security solution involving the Trustees, Big Bay estates, contracted security companies, Table View Neighbourhood Watch, Law Enforcement and SAPS. The efforts of this team have resulted in very little crime being reported in Big Bay during the past year, making it one of the safest, if not the safest, precinct in the whole area. The physical security network infrastructure continued to expand during the past year and is planned to grow significantly in the coming year as the BBMPOA fibre backbone is rolled out to the entrance of all the Big Bay Estates and properties. The security of Big Bay will be further strengthened during the coming year with the implementation of 24/7 foot and vehicle patrols of the entire Big Bay precinct, including vehicle patrols within all the Big Bay Estates.

Activities include:

  • Purchase of additional new security cameras integrated into the camera network.

  • Integration of over 100 existing estate cameras into the camera network so that we can track suspects through our area from camera to camera.

  • Constant review of Cathexis analytics monitoring on the cameras to ensure we are monitoring the right areas and ‘hot spots’ at the right time.

  • Improved monitoring and management of our foot patrol security officers through radio tracking.

  • Regular foot patrols through all the dune areas in Big Bay to detect suspicious activity or individuals, illegal shacks being set up in our area etc.

  • Regular security cluster meetings with Law Enforcement, local security companies, the SAPS Sector Commander for Big Bay and Table View Neighbourhood Watch to align all security stakeholders on latest crime trends and provide direction on where to focus particular attention.
